Chapter 29 â Daddyâs Little Girl
It was 1:00 p.m. when TJ woke us.
âGet up Kens,â he shook me. âWe have to make sure everything is in place for the raid. We are set to go after the first show tonight.â
I pulled the sheet up to my neck and sat up. âCould you step out of the room while we get dressed?â
âOh, yes, of course. Iâm sorry.â He sputtered as he closed the door behind him.
I headed for the bathroom grabbing a pullover from the dresser drawer on my way. âCan I get you anything,â I called out to Regina.
âNo, Iâm getting dressed too.â
âI donât know how you always manage to look like a million dollars.â I admired the way her long dark hair curled around her face coming to rest on her shoulders. âYou are one lovely woman, Regina Ryder.â
She laughed. âYou arenât so bad either.â
I opened the door and allowed TJ back into our room. âIâm going to order breakfast from room service. Everyone want the usual: bacon, eggs, toast, orange juice and coffee?â
They nodded as I picked up the phone.
TJ cleared the table in our room and handed us a copy of everything that was going to happen today. âItâs business as usual,â he said. âWe will slowly put people in place during the day to carry off the raid tonight. When Marvella finishes her first song, we will round up everyone. All the drag queens, Rodney, and his gang of thugs. Rita, and her henchmen. Another team will be picking up Estevan Marquart and the FBI will arrest Captain York. We put a tap on his phone yesterday and recorded him informing Rita about a raid the police have planned for next Friday night at Rodneyâs adult bookstores. Of course, we will raid all the adult bookstores tonight too.
âI wish we could get to Sierraâs father, Fernando Morales the real drug lord,â Regina said, âbut he never leaves Mexico. He sends his daughter.â
âDo you have any idea who killed Arriba,â I asked.
âNone. Nothing. It was a professional hit.â TJ answered.
âWhat about the legitimate customers in the lounge tonight? Arenât we putting them in danger of being taken as hostages?â I worried.
âWeâre doing something smart for a change. We have warrants for thirty drug gang lieutenants. We will catch the last ten at the door and pull them aside. A plainclothes officer will be seated in the showroom behind or next to each of the others and we will arrest them all at once. A paddy wagon will be waiting in the alley,â TJ informed us.
âDonât let Rita get away,â Regina emphasized. âShe is like a viper, very deadly.â
âLetâs get ready to face the day,â TJ inhaled deeply. âThis will be the biggest bust Kens and I have ever participated in.â
Reginaâs phone sounded an alarm. âI am required to be at a blackjack table in an hour. Iâd better get dressed. Oh, Kens and TJ, Iâll be arrested too. Otherwise, my cover will be compromised. I go on assignments all over the world.
